VOTE 2024: A Hawaii Primary How-To

In 1960 over 90% of Hawaii voted, by 2020 less than 60% did.

There are 100 elected positions being decided in 2024 across different levels of Hawaii government. The August 10th primary election will determine many of these seats. Here is how to participate:

Review Your Ballot

Visit https://olvr.hawaii.gov/altballotsearch3.aspx and enter your island and address to see what your primary ballot looks like. There are federal, state, OHA, and local election sections.

You can learn a little more about the candidates on that page, but learn even more on Civil Beat’s 2024 resource guide, including candidate Q&A responses.

Return Your Voted Ballot

Ballots must be received by your County Elections Division by 7PM on Saturday August 10th.

Ballots can be dropped at a Voter Service Center, Place of Deposit, USPS Facilities,. USPS Blue Box, or USPS Post Office Lobby.
